Thacher is a co-educational college preparatory boarding school 85 miles north of Los Angeles. I was responsible for art direction, design and production of all institutional communications. I also managed all facets of the school website and performed most duties including design, production, database management and programming. A majority of my work was performed for the Admissions and Development offices who primarily deal with external constituent groups. However I also produced many projects for internal constituencies that involve the web site and print collateral.

Long Beach, California : May 1996—February 1999
Jensen Design is a design firm serving clients with design, branding and positioning services. Clients included Canon USA, Los Angeles Cardiology Associates, Robeks and Philharmonica Society of Orange County. I was responsible for concept, design, production, implementation and management of on-line business solutions for clients as well as for Jensen Design. I managed, maintained and troubleshot all facets of the computer network. I managed digital archiving and backup systems. I advised on technology acquisitions and investments. I established and implemented pre-press processes and production standards for quality assurance that were sought by printers who received my work.

Carson, California : October 1995—May 1996
Lakeshore is a creator of innovative learning materials and top-quality educational products. I was primarily responsible for design and production of various collateral materials for the former KCET Store of Knowledge, which Lakeshore owned. I designed and produced catalog materials for Lakeshore and implemented and maintained backup system for networked computers.

On the Boulevard Publishing

Studio City, California : September 1994—October 1995
On the Boulevard Publishing produced local arts and entertainment magazines for the communities of Santa Monica, Pasadena, West Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. I art directed, designed and produced the four publications with the help of one staff member. Design responsibilities included editorial design and a majority of advertising design for client advertisers—mostly restaurants, retail boutiques and playhouses.

I managed all digital pre-press and post-production operations, organized and archived all digital media systems, provided management and direction to art staff.

J.R. Navarro is an advertising and marketing agency. Clients include Oldsmobile, Pacific Theaters, Petersen Automotive Museum and Al Brooks Tickets. I designed and produced corporate collateral and print advertising from concept to camera-ready artwork.

The Albany Times Union, Capital Newspapers, Hearst Corporation

Albany, New York : June 1992—May 1994
The Albany Times Union is New York’s largest capital region newspaper. I provided design and advertising services for the clientele of 40 sales representatives. Also designed covers for special tabloid sections and promotions. Worked in an office with six designers and one art director. Clients were primarily local businesses in the automotive, retail and service industries.

Troy, New York : December 1991—June 1992
The Record is a local newspaper in the New York capital district region. I provided creative advertisement design and production, camera ready art and illustration for display and classified advertising, and special section tabloid covers. I was one of two advertising artists managed by an art director.
